A winter without de-icing salt? Unthinkable! The Swiss saltworks ensure year after year that Switzerland remains mobile even when Mother Holle is at her peak.

On this tour, you will learn a lot of interesting information about de-icing salt and winter road services. Have you ever seen 100,000 tons of salt? Impressive, right?

Embark on a journey back in time to when salt extraction required a lot of muscle work, visit the historic drilling towers, and learn how salt was harvested in the past.
